If you’re running ESET Smart Security 4.0 or ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.0, you may want to hold off on installing Windows Vista Service Pack 2. ESET has announced that the latest version of their their Smart Security and NOD32 products, which currently sit at 4.0, are incompatible with Windows Vista Service Pack 2 and will not work correctly. Users have reported several issues, such as the real-time protection engine failing to start, random STOP errors, and application crashes. The message published to their knowledge base is as follows:
Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 conflicts with version 4.0 of ESET Smart Security and ESET NOD32 Antivirus. An incompatibility between Service Pack 2 and the 4.0 versions of ESET Smart Security and ESET NOD32 Antivirus prevents the proper functioning of real-time file-system protection. The ESET icon next to the system clock will turn red, notifying users that maximum protection is not ensured. An updated build for version 4.0 ESET security products is currently in development and will be released as soon as possible.
If you are running version 4.0 of either ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus and have installed the latest update for Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, which includes Service Pack 2, you may be experiencing issues with your ESET security product.

Si usted esta ejecutando el ESET Smart Security 4.0 o ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.0, talvés tenga que esperar un poco antes de instalar el Windows Vista Service Pack 2. ESET a anunciado que la ultima versión de sus productos Smart Security y NOD32, que actualmente son la versión at 4.0, son incompatibles con Windows Vista Service Pack 2 y no funcionarán correctamente. Usuarios han reportado numerosos problemas, como ser la falla de inicialización del motor de protección a tiempo real, errores de STOP aleatorios, y aplicaciones que se finalizan.
