Dr. Dog es uno de mis grupos favoritos, son especialistas en modelar melodías imposibles... repletas de matices, las armonías vocales que logran también son muy atractivas.
Se los podría catalogar como una banda neo-beat, con múltiples influencias sobre todo por aquellos grupos de la década de 1960.
Sus primeras grabaciones tienen algo de lo-fi y del pop de bandas de rock indie de los 90, como Guided By Voices y Pavement.
Los primeros álbums cuentan con un sonido más rústico mientras que los más recientes ofrecen una producción más trabajada.
Si bien sus raíces están en los clásicos como los Beatles y los Beach Boys, mantienen su propia idiosincrasia y originalidad ,marcando una interesantísima línea entre la tradición y experimentación. Conocen muy bien las roots americanas ofreciéndole un encantador rostro de soul blanco con maquillaje folkie. Belleza melódica al servicio de una puesta en escena que recuerda a The Band y a The Basement Tapes.
